Exploring the Schoolyard
During the Q&As students told me they were “excited” to hear such interesting stories, “sad” regarding the chickadee story, “amazed” about the Bald Eagle story and “interested” to learn so much about nature. Kids amaze me with their enthusiasm for nature and their willingness to ask questions and express their feelings about the program. Photo by Sandy Maloney, Cape May NJ.

The school provided a super-comfy chair for me for the Q&A sessions in the library. But when I was chatting with the younger students, I sat on the floor. I wanted to be as close to eye level for the students as possible. This helped to put them at ease so they could comfortably ask the questions they really wanted to ask rather than the questions they thought they should ask. Photo by Sandy Maloney, Cape May NJ.

ANJEE Group
On Friday night Rob and I had a chance to join the Association of New Jersey Environment Educators at the Nature Center of Cape May. The meeting was hosted by Sue Slotterback (front, right). Photo by Sandy Maloney, Cape May NJ.

Jane and Rob
Sandy Maloney took this photo of Rob and me. We don’t often get photographed together and this one captures us very well. Thanks so much Sandy.

Clay figures
Students make clay figures to celebrate nature. This one is a flower and butterfly.

"Evil" Bug
This big, bad “evil” bug by Nick is adorable!

Welkum Jane
There were welcome signs all over the school - what fun!

Thank you
I’d like to thank the Cape May City Elementary School PTA for sponsoring my visit. I’d also like to thank teacher Sandy Sandmeyer-Bryan (my dear friend) for helping to make this happen. Sandy is always reminding her students that nature is everywhere! Thanks so much for a great day and many special memories!
